Big vase full of summer flowers
Self Portrait
Re-purposed printed metal
33" x 22" x 1"
2014

There are many parts of this piece that thrill me. Like little secrets waiting to be discovered or never being revealed. The lavender colored hydrangea is mostly from a tin Chuckie Cheese lunch box. The poppies are from a Costco cookie container. The vase is from the floor of an old tin doll house. In between the black squares are all kinds of tin, like part of a NECCO Waffers tin, or an Allsorts candy tin. The mat and frame are tin that is nailed down. I wanted this piece to read like a framed poster from a distances so the viewer would be surprised when they got a closer look. The 3 butterflies are on magnets and can be moved around.
