I'm not religious but I love religious art, churches, statuary, stained glass and all the saints. I like the idea of people all dressed up to be there for services, weddings and funerals. As a child the Catholic church was a scary place. Jesus looked so sad, thin and bleeding in the arms of his despondent mother and not knowing why was spooky.The gold leaf alters and heavenly paintings on the ceilings felt magical. I grew up without any religion so I didn't understand what all of this was about. I'm still not clear on it but it doesn't matter to me I just like the way it looks.
